Hubby and I decided for a more relaxing night again this year filled with munchies, movies and PJs. It was great. But also, to prevent me from slaving in the kitchen all day for something special, we opted for a few boxes of various frozen appetizers, some of my homemade crockpot marinara sauce (which I will link to if I’ve got a post up about, or will post a recipe for if not).
We chose a no-name box of sausage roll bites which were yummy as usual, but then we also picked three President’s Choice products: Chicken Samosas (pictured above), Spanikopita and Chicken Grenades (from their Recipe to Riches line). I’d like to share how we liked each of these.

As we did last year, hubby and I stayed in for New Year’s Eve. We actually prefer it because we can stay in our comfy clothes, don’t have to fight with traffic or weather, and don’t have to worry about one of us staying sober to drive home. If we pass out on the couch, who cares? 🙂
Last year, I did a lot of food-prep myself, creating homemade pizza rolls and mozzarella sticks, along with a crockpot butter chicken dinner (which we saved for the next day because we were full on appetizers).
This year, I decided that pre-made hors d’oeuvres was the way to go for a lazy New Year’s Eve!
Much like my last post, I have to thank another food blog: Pass the Sushi! Why? For their wonderful Panko Mozzarella Sticks recipe, of course! This was the recipe I used as reference for my own mozzarella sticks.
Hubby is quite the mozz-stick lover and these got the “two thumbs up” approval, so these will be keepers! I’ve made adjustments to the recipe based on what ingredients I had around, so here’s my version, for future reference: Continue reading →
